1000 free: The BEAR team got off to a quick start in the 100 free, by finishing 1-3-6-10-14. In addition to Natalie's win, Katie Gardocki finished 3rd in 10:31.05, Taryn Prout 6th in 10:35.91, Melanie Pascal 10th in 10:49.45, and Sara Gardocki 14th in 10:55.04. Shaun Bruso and Tom Casey finished 4th and 6th with 10:12.89 and 10:33.29.
200 IM: Natalie finished 2nd in 2:09.48, with Melanie winning her heat at finals in 2:13.17, while rookie Morgan Lee swam a lifetime best in this event. Ben Levine finished 9th in this event at 2:03.59, while 14 year old Tom Casey had one of his many great swims with a 2:08.08. Andy Levine also had a lifetime best with a 2:16.20.
500 free: Katie had a great swim with an impressive 5:05.86 to capture 2nd place, while Taryn finished in 3rd with a 5:07.73. Natalie finished 8th after qualifying with a 5:08.20, and Sara had a strong swim in her final with a 5:19.26. Shaun and Tom also finished with lifetime bests with 5:02.95 and 5:05.96.
100 breast: Andy Levine finished in 12th with a personal best of 1:07.67
200 back: Taryn finished 4th in 2:11.22, just off her 2:11.17 in trials. Ben won the consolation heat with a 2:03.06.
800 free relay: The BEAR girls team broke the 8 minute barrier with a time of 7:58.84. Melanie led off with an outstanding 1:59.75, and the team should be even faster at Age Groups and Sectionals. The boys finished second, after a strong lead-off swim of 1:49.52 from Ben.
100 back: Melanie swam a lifetime best of 1:01.21 while Morgan dropped over two seconds to 1:10.60. Ben had a career unshaved best of 56.94.
200 Free: Natalie had a lifetime best of 1:57.16 with Taryn close behind at 1:57.38. Sara swam a strong 2:03.00. Andy and Tom went 1:59.06 and 1:59.27 for the boys.
100 fly: Melanie finished 4th with a 59.62 while Shaun swam a lifetime best of 58.59.
400 IM: Natalie stunned the crowd with her upset win. After breaking the pool record in trials by a few tenths, Natalie dropped another 8 seconds and upset heavily favored Kiera Heath from Wilton, while breaking the pool record and qualifying for the US Open. Taryn finished 8th in the event. Ben had a strong 4:20.55 in trials and finished 6th in the event.
400 Medley Relay: The girls had a good effort, with a string leadoff back leg of 1:01.08 from Taryn. Natalie also swam a solid 1:11.25 breaststroke leg in the teams 5th place finish. The boys finished 4th, and also had a lifetime best backstroke leadoff of 1:00.25 from Shaun.
100 Free: Natalie had a lifetime best of 55.01 while finishing 10th.
200 Breast: Tom swam an outstanding 2:22.31 to get 11th place while Andy swam a strong 2:27.10. Morgan just missed finals with a 2:42.13.
200 fly: Our girls finished 1-3-7 in this event, led by Taryn's 2:08.60. Melanie swam an impressive 2:09.62 while Natalie had another best time at 2:12.05. Ben finished 5th in the event with a 2:04.32.
1650 free: Taryn finished 3rd in this event, and the team got an outstanding swim from Sara Gardocki who dropped an amazing 30 seconds to finish in 4th place!
400 free relays: The girls had their best ever showing with a 3:42.64, with a strong anchor leg of 54.86 from 13 year old Katie Gardocki. The boys all had lifetime bests in their relay in a come-from-behind 3rd place finish. Tom led off with a 52.49, Andy followed with a 55.96, Shaun chipped in with a 53.61, and Ben split a strong 49.99.
